July 17, 2026The Anguilla Summer Festival Committee, in collaboration with the Anguilla Festivals Development Commission, is proud to announce Anguilla Electricity Company (ANGLEC) as the Title Sponsor of the 2026 Senior Calypso Competition and Junior Calypso Competition, with a significant sponsorship commitment of $120,000XCD.

The ceremony commenced with opening remarks from Senior Calypso Chairman, Mr. Mark Romney, who expressed his sincere appreciation to ANGLEC for its confidence in the Calypso programme and for coming on board as the title sponsor. He noted that the partnership represents a tremendous investment in one of Anguilla’s most treasured cultural traditions.
Chairman of the Anguilla Summer Festival Committee, Mr. Fitzroy Tomlinson, also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to ANGLEC, commending the company for its unwavering commitment to culture and for recognizing the vital role calypso continues to play in preserving Anguilla’s identity, history and artistic expression.
Representing ANGLEC, Chief Executive Officer Mr. David Leonce reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting the arts, culture and the Anguilla Summer Festival. He emphasized the importance of investing in initiatives that strengthen community pride while ensuring that the island’s cultural traditions continue to thrive for future generations.
Additional remarks were delivered by ANGLEC’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jemila Morson, who echoed the company’s commitment to cultural development. She also paid special tribute to the late Leroy ‘Brother Lee’ Richardson, recognizing his immeasurable contribution to Anguilla’s cultural landscape and the enduring legacy he leaves within the calypso fraternity.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Junior Calypso Chairman, Mr. Kasem Thompson, who expressed sincere appreciation to ANGLEC for extending its support to the island’s young calypsonians. He highlighted the importance of nurturing emerging talent and expressed optimism for a long and successful partnership in the years ahead.
The Junior Calypso Competition is scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026, while the Senior Calypso Competition will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, as part of the vibrant calendar of events for the Anguilla Summer Festival.
